2018 Review of QuickBooks Online – Invoicing Functions

QuickBooks Online is designed for the small business owner, offering easy anytime/anywhere system access that its desktop edition is lacking. Available in three editions, QuickBooks Online can be utilized by the freelancer as well as the start-up and growing businesses.
QuickBooks Online is truly designed for the mobile user, offering a very different interface than the traditional desktop version. The product also offers a free mobile app in all product editions, and it is optimally designed for easy mobile navigation.
QuickBooks Online offers a solid selection of invoicing options, with users able to easily access invoicing functions from the plus sign at the top of the screen. QuickBooks Online also offers excellent invoice customization capability, including the ability to customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts. Users can easily upload a logo to display on the both invoices and customer sales receipts, with the ability to customize the body of the invoice to better suit their needs. Prior to finalizing the invoice, users can view a PDF to ensure that all information is accurate prior to creating.
Users can quickly create an invoice in QuickBooks Online, with the ability to view the invoice prior to completing. Recurring invoices can also be created by simply clicking on the; make recurrent’ option located at the bottom of the page, choosing from a variety of invoice intervals, including weekly, bi-weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annually.
Users can easily edit any invoices entered in QuickBooks Online, and can also be copied if desired. There is also a delete option available, although the invoice and the deletion will still be displayed in the audit log that displays the most recent transactions processed in the system. Users can also attach any relevant documents to any customer record, with the ability to also add notes to each record if desired.
QuickBooks also offers users the ability to email automatic payment reminders to customer. All invoices created in QuickBooks can be printed and mailed to recipients, or users can simply email invoices directly to their customers. QuickBooks Online also accepts a variety of payment types, with users able to choose which payment types they wish to accept. All online payments are processed through QuickBooks Payments, which automatically syncs all payment information with QuickBooks Online, eliminating the need to re-enter payment details.
Employee time can easily be tracked in QuickBooks Online, with users entering a start and stop time for any related activity. A time summary can also be entered as well, and users can utilize the notes field to enter a description of the time spent for their customers/clients.
QuickBooks Online offers decent reporting options, including the Statement of Activities report, which offers detailed information on all invoicing and payment activity. The product also offers a good selection of accounts receivable reports as well. All QuickBooks Online reports can be viewed on screen, printed, shared with accountants, or emailed directly to recipients. Reports can also be exported to Microsoft Excel or saved as a PDF if desired.
Designed for small businesses, QuickBooks Online offers solid invoicing capability using a variety of devices, including smart phones and tablets. QuickBooks Online is available in three editions: Simple Start, which is $7.00 per month, Essentials, which is $17.00 per month, and Plus, which is $25.00 per month. Pricing reflects a 50% discount for the first three months of the subscription. There is also a free 30-day trial available as well.
